Could someone tell me how, maybe a formula, I would find the distance 'Z' given a chord length 'C' and central angle. Many thanks.

That distance is just the radius.

But to answer your question to find radius given central angle in degrees and chord length = c  / sin(θ * pi/180/2) / 2
