Even if i run kovaaks on a 4:3 res, i can not get a 1:1 scale?

You can, just use the Vertical FOV in Kovaak's and the same value as in R6.

I'm so confused by this Kovaaks aim thing, not sure if the ingame options work. Cause when I pick Apex and put sens on 2 and FoV on 110 is way off from what I have in Apex. However when I put the Fov down it gets closer to my actual cm/360. But apex shouldn't be affected by FoV I think. I don't know, just confusing.

Check if you have a file called UserInput.ini under the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Unreal Engine\Engine\Config.

If you do, try to delete it and see if it changes the sensitivity behavior.

Lol, that actually worked. Man I love you guys, you really know your stuff. Why did this happened though? I did download it today, but should I be worried this file might come back and mess things up?

Also, I just love your website, I'll try to support in the future, but I just finished my studies and are currently trying to find a job. I trust you 100% after my experience with Medal of honor allied assault.

The calculator told me that 2 in Apex should be 2 in Mohaa aswell, but when I meassured by hand I got to around 2.33. So I was a little dissapointed, then I saw the note that said that the sensitivity was affected by resolution, so I put that in there and bam it said 2.33 on the spot. So I was very proud with the website after that, and a little with me, since I had meassured it so closely :D

Anyways, thanks for the help :)

There's a bug in certain versions of Unreal Engine 4, so some games based on it incorrectly reads some generic UE4 files and applies settings from them.

And yes, this might happen again. I'm not quite sure which games actually creates this file, but it might suddenly appear again and mess up everything.

Kovaak's with Apex/Source sensitivity is exactly the same as in Apex, so any difference you get here is probably due to a bug in Unreal Engine 4 (which Kovaak's is based on).

Check if you have a file called UserInput.ini under the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Unreal Engine\Engine\Config.

  1. Set the same FOV on both games.
  2. Check if you are encountering a bug in Unreal Engine 4, where some games read a generic UE4 file and applies some settings from it.
Check if you have a file called UserInput.ini under the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Unreal Engine\Engine\Config.

If anyone has a one of those ini files that is causing this problem, I'd really appreciate a copy of the file along with the actual location of it so that I can test and maybe fix this issue permanently.

Here's a copy of the one that caused issues on my system.

Location is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Unreal Engine\Engine\Config

I changed bEnableFOVScaling to False to solve the issue with your aim trainer, but for other games it's obviously opposite depending on how they handle FOV. Alternatively deleting the file also fixes it of course.

The folder and file has not been re-created since around March, not sure if whatever UE4 game created the files has been fixed, or if I just haven't launched it since. The issue is either way in the engine, a lot of games are affected by this.

Hey again. So i went back to look at my conversion from RB to kovaaks, and was wondering what to put in the "FOV Type" section for kovaaks. My display is 16:9, but i play both RB and Kovaaks at a 4:3 res. Im asking because whenever i change the "FOV type" it gives me different values for the config FOV. I dont know which setting is the correct to choose between (Hdeg 4:3, Hdeg 16:9 or Vdeg). Don't want to be practicing with the wrong FOV here. Thanks in advance :)

I've noticed that when selecting the apex sensitivity in kovaak's, 110 doesn't correspond to the value for 110 in apex itself? This calculator seems to say that the value I'm looking for in kovaaks is 108.5 (to match to 110 in apex), is this correct? This would seem to indicate that kovaaks slider for FOV corresponds to Hdeg 4:3 instead of apex's in game FOV. Can someone please confirm all this?

Also, slightly off topic, but is there a way to actually measure FOV in games so that I could answer this type of thing myself?

@DPI Wizard @KovaaK Can I get an answer about this? its pretty confusing and if i'm correct about the kovaak's setting not matching the apex in game settings, this could be causing lots of people to train at the wrong FOV

The FOV shown in-game in Apex is "wrong" in that is not exactly Hdeg 4:3, the correct FOV is the value from the config file multiplied by 70. It's just a bad implementation by the devs.

how the unreal engine bug been fixed by Kovaak with their 2.0 Meta update?

Just tested now, and no. It still reads the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Unreal Engine\Engine\Config\UserInput.ini file and applies the bEnableFOVScaling variable from it. This folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Unreal Engine\) can safely be deleted or renamed as far as I know, it's not used for anything.

okay I just want to make sure I don't have this file. I went to my file explorer and typed %localappdata% and then under the Unreal Engine folder I see only numbered files such as 4.11, 4.12 ect. Is this what I am suppose to be seeing? How skewed of aiming will I get if this ini file is messing with the aim?

Thanks for the help,

Talmadge

That's under the UnrealEngine folder, not Unreal Engine. The space makes a big difference :)

@DPI WizardHow would you convert the FOV from CSGO in game? Would you put 90 if you used 16:9 or 106.26? There also is a "Zoom FOV" setting under ADS settings, which I have at 79 as that is the Quake Champions default value, but not sure if that is correct.

Thanks!

Hi, I apologize for the bad English.

To get the perfect sensitivity ratio between Kovak and Apex (x1) I have to

1)check for a buggy ini file(I find only this)

image.thumb.png.6ee5c4bba8eb6a448f9ef9bd83b2a64a.png

2)Calculate identical fow

make calculations and match games

image.thumb.png.29cb6307c2e50a6e3b18447982481903.png

Did I do everything right? I could not find a buggy file with that name even through UltraSearch....

thanks for the help
