Yes, the ADS FOV isn't necessarily the same, and the calculation I did for you is using MDV 177.78% as matching method which means that the FOV is taken into account. This means that your aim based on what you see on your monitor will be the same, but the 360 distance will be different.

Is it possible to have the same 360/distance ? It’s better for the muscle memory ^^.

help please, I used the converter but it said to make my destiny fov 85 but now destiny feels like a higher sens than apex and it had me lower the ads mult in destiny 2 which i did not understand why

which is the optimal Conversion setup to get flickshots matching the hipfire with 1x scops?!
i'm confused... ADS 360° feels, like it should, much to fast.... what it is about MDV 177.78 ?!

Kinda depends on "where" you want to flick. MDH 100% is to the edge, 75% is probably a good value in between.

k, that is what i already know, but for what is MDV with a value of 177.78 ?!
is there a way to get the tracking movement exactly to the hipfire?!

whenever i put this to 4:3 the sensitivity never feels good, feels better 16:9

this game just doesnt feel like the sensitivity is right, even if i change to the exact fov in config and 360

is 4:3 really what we are suppose to select? i changed the sensitivity in game from like 3 and 1.2 or something to 1.85 and 1.85, even tho the exact same 360cm the sensitivity was totally different in game

The correct FOV Type if you are using the value from the in-game menus is actually "Multi", as it isn't exactly the same as 4:3.

@DPI Wizard

Is the default FOV (1.27216005) in apex the actual native FOV with zero visual distortions, do you know?

Not sure, this is just the value produced by the game at launch with no settings applied. Anything around this shouldn't produce any significant distortions though.

@DPI Wizard

Thanks!

Do you think the native FOV is hardset by the engine of the game or something the game developer sets to their liking? If the former, maybe 90° at 4:3 is native since apex runs on Source!?

I don't get motion sick or anything in apex, but I think it might make a difference in how easy it is for your brain to do fast turns and keeping good orientation.

Any testing method to figure out the native FOV come to mind?

90 was certainly their goal, but in messing up the conversion from 4:3 to multiplier something went wrong and they're now only close (but not exact) to 90.

I've never actually considered this, or know if it's even possible. But it's an interesting question! Do you have any games in mind that this is particularly obvious from?

Speaking of FOV, how would I go about finding the exact cl_fovscale if I want to match Overwatch's 103 FOV to Apex's 1x scopes rather than Apex's hipfire. Looking at this website it seems like 1.4438ish is probably super close already but it bothers me that I can't find out the exact cl_fovscale.

1.4438 is correct, but the calculator doesn't directly support this kind of conversion since it's in most cases irrelevant.

BUT you can test the values like this and check that the Actual HFOV is identical:

I think if you look at extreme examples like in this CSGO vid -

- It's not only visually unappealing but turning gives this weird nauseating effect...the environment is morphing when you turn. I think the same effect but way way more subtle will be in any game when using non-native FOV. In theory you should be able to play better with correct FOV.(discounting other pros and cons of different FOV values)

Maybe someone here has worked with different engines and can inform us on how it all works when creating a game....

Only other game I can think of where FOV is handicapping me is PUBG but for a different reason. They made center of rotation different from where your Camera is located and worse the point of your camera in ADS changes with different guns....I'm sure that's also fun for your job of converting sensitivities ;)

Yeah, the camera in PUBG is placed where your eyes would physically be, i.e. slightly in front of your center or rotation. That along with the shift when ADS'ing makes the game quite annoying when it comes to first person views.

Hey, can you translating my apex legends sensitivity ( 2.5 HIP, 1ADS, FOV110, 800DPI ) to bo4 with fov 120, affected, relative 1.33 plss. i Don't understand how to use monitor coefficient...

Hello

i have been reading the pages to get my answer and i think i did but i just want to make sure .

the Fov from csgo to Apex legends 1x ( red dot , holo and basically the sights that you pick up from the ground that don't have any zoom ) is 106.36 which translates to 1.5 in the game files , right ?

so basically i set the 360 distance of csgo hipfire to apex 1x scope with above fov and i get the sensitivity i want .

I think there is a bug in the calculator, unless this bug was intended. From what I've read CSGO and Apex should be a 1:1 sens if the FOVs are the same right?

CSGO will always be 90 fov, cannot be changed. Apex has a dynamic fov that can be changed and the calculator will provide you with the CL_FOVSCALE value to get it to 90, if you wish but here comes the part I think is a glitch.

So if I'm converting my CSGO sens on a 16:9 res to Apex 16:9 res with the SAME FOV. This will be the result

gNEj4i7.png

As you can see, APEX does not provide you with the sens 2.81? Which is ODD seeing as fovs are the same. Now if I remove the default fov value which I inputted, it's automatically going to replace that value with an incorrect fov, but the calculator will say the fov_debug is still 90. This worries me because if this bug exists for csgo then only god knows for how many other games in the calculator this might be a bug and a factor to why people feel that their sensitivity does not match their previous ones.

TgZyhi9.png

So what is the point of even being "able" to fill in this value, if it's going to assume it correctly for us and if we fill it in correctly it's just going to give us a miscalculated sensitivity as proven in the first image.

Also I want to know, if I want the same sensitivity I'm using for hipfire for my scopes in Apex Legends. Should I use Viewspeed or monitor distance? I just want it to feel as fast as it does when im moving my mouse with hipfire. I don't care about how many cm's it travels.
