DPI Wizard

Hipfire and ADS is added for in-game and config file!

Call of Duty noob here. I primarily play Overwatch and CSGO with pretty low sens.

How would I use the calculator to make my hip fire and ads exactly the same? I don’t want that slow down, especially when I’m fighting in close quarters.

Can someone help me understand how to calculate this?

Should I use Legacy or Relative in the full version, to get that same feel when transition between hip/ads/scope.  Like when using Uniform soldier aiming in BF4?

select 360° distance in the conversion setup.

I guess I should clarify : I essentially have my sensitivity set up to be a full 180 at 32 cm (the size of my mousepad). What I've noticed though, is depending on the optic, the sensitivity slows way down.

For example, the output I get from the calculator tells me that I should adjust my horizontal multiplier to 0.79, but this in practice makes my ADS (even unscoped) unacceptably slow compared to hipfire.

I'd like my sensitivity to be consistent across all optics, the same as hip fire. Is this is a stupid question? Am I fundamentally missing the point? I've attached my calculator in case I am filling in the fields incorrectly somehow. I'm using Legacy with the Affected FOV.

Convert from Overwatch to BO4 using 360 distance or 0% monitor distance match, to get the BO4 hipfire sensitivity value.

Set the conversion method to 'Convert distance' instead of 'Convert sensitivity'.

Set the input game to BO4, put in 64 cm for 360 distance (32 cm for 180), set it to ADS (reflex), and put in the rest of the information.

There is no way to make all aim fovs have the same 360 distance since sensitivity scales with fov. Using the largest relative coefficient possible will minimise the amount of scaling, but really you should be scaling directly with the fov, which is legacy or relative with 0 coefficient.

is anyone else having issues getting the config.ini file to save your new changes

There are 2 config.ini files  which you have to edit.

The first one is in the Call of Duty Black Ops 4/players folder obviously. After you edit this file you can then copy and paste it into the next folder which can also be found in the same Call of Duty Black Ops 4/players folder and has a weird name similar to "000000065gf84a". That folder also contains a config.ini file which you have to replace with a copy of the one from the players folder. After that your settings should save properly.

I believe the weird named folder represents your Blizzard user account or something.

Can anyone tell me if I did the below conversions correctly? I honestly just left the settings at the top under "Conversion setup" as they were by default and just threw in my Overwatch sens... is there a "best" option you should be selecting for the "Normal" and "ADS" boxes up top in order to calculate your Hipfire and ADS numbers?

Is it totally wrong to leave those boxes under Conversion Setup to whatever they were as default? Because using the numbers I got in-game actually feels pretty damn good. But if improvements can be made, obviously I would like to correct my conversion numbers.

All this is so confusing . I just want to have the same cm/360 across all games when aiming down sites or with scopes or whatever . I cant get my cm to match up during conversion and black ops 4 seems inconsistent . One swipe across the Matt doesn't give the same results every time . It's frustrating!

The problem is that scoping (and even iron sights) narrows your field of view, which means that there is no "one" sensitivity that will allow a normal 360 rotation at every possible field of view.

Maybe if they allow sensitivity config per optic in the future this could be addressed, but not as it currently stands. It takes a bit of adjustment but I think I'm getting there.

Thanks for reply bro. I may have to do old fashioned test with iron sites only in games and lathe rest lay how it is.

No problem. For what it's worth (and because I wanted this and have seen many questions to this effect in this thread): you don't actually want an identical 360 distance at narrower fields of view (like when scoped). It's not the experience you have playing CSGO or Overwatch either.

I'm a COD noob and frankly wasn't used to games where virtually all combat happens in ADS. But the reality I've discovered is that when fighting you don't actually want to do a 360 WHILE IN ads to respond to a situation. You can match your hipfire to other games and then use the calculator's ADS settings to help you scale down.

If you're shooting and realize you're being attacked from behind, you're probably dead, but if not, go back to hip fire, predictably spin, and then ADS again. The accuracy boost you get in ADS is 100% worth it once you get used to it.

I  enjoyed reading that, your well spoken . I feel like a dumbass . I wish I understood it all . I've been playing games for 26 years .  Im 30 now, I dont want to mess myself up . I wonder how the pros get their sensitivities just right in games . If all of them use the math to calculate it all . I would literally pay someone to help me get it all set up right . I do see what your saying but that being said, I dont know what I need to set it to based off that.  I tend to just go to a full swipe being a 360 when I cant get things to match up .

Well, I think most pros just play for hundreds of hours that I don't have. I think keeping your sensitivity consistent is extremely helpful, but it won't make you S1mple, unfortunately.

If you want to DM me, I can try to help you figure out your settings. You can also use the 'Simple Mode' on the calculator if you don't want to do too much gut level stuff. Just leave the FOV field alone - the calculator populates that just fine unless you've modified your FOV manually in your games.

@pervysage

It boils down to preference a bit. I typically use "Monitor Distance" instead of "View Speed" just because that seems to be the conventional wisdom/consensus here. Use a value of 0% for both vertical and horizontal. I'm also using legacy rather than relative. If you use relative, set your coefficient to zero in mouse settings. ALL OF THAT SAID - if you like how your mouse feels with your current settings, don't tweak it just for science's sake. Find settings that feel good intuitively to you.

I was in some pro leagues as a teenager but back then e sports wasnt near as big, I tend to put hundreds and even thousands of hours into games I really love. Granted it's much harder as an adult . I've got like 3k hours in CS go before I quit playing, over the course of 3 years . I have always excelled in fps but now that I'm older and not trying to be a pro in just one game plus getting too old for it lol . I play so many games . I guess if I just stay fairly consistent itll be all good . It dont have to be dead on. Back when I play in CaL having the same sensitivity wasnt as popular . I just want to mimic them because I feel their going to make the best choices you can make on that stuff.  I dont expect to be shroud  I just want to do what will help keep me competitive at least . Thank you guys so much for the replies . I'm going to look into all of it and I may dm you if I'm still jammed up . I need to take the time to learn the science of it all .

Question, if anyone can help.  Im currently playin the game at fov 113, 3.27 sens, 1200 dpi, on a 3440x1440 34 inch monitor.  I have it on relative ads and iIm not sure hat to put for the horizontal, vertical and coefficient settings.  Im trying to get comparable  sens to 1920x1080 24 in 400 dpi, 9.8 sens, fov113 with relative ads 1.00 horizontal, 1.00 vertical and 1.33 coefficient.  Any help would be appreciated thanks

I have noticed when changing settings in the config file that have multiple decimal points, that the in-game settings still display these values as rounded. For example, I have my sens set to '3.497' in the config, which just gets displayed as '3.5' in the settings menu. I'm assuming that its being applied correctly, but just being displayed as a rounded value in game?

Also, does anyone know if the config allows for decimal points for fov? The comment in the config just says "60 to 120". I set mine at '106.26' to match csgo, but again it just displays in game as '106' so I don't know if its working. Maybe DPI Wizard could chime in on this one for me.

Much appreciated.

I thought I'd have a go at helping but hopefully someone with more experience can double check for you because I could be wrong. My thinking is that converting for hip-fire and keeping your relative and co-efficient settings the same will keep everything consistent for ads.

Edit: Noticed you already converted hip-fire and are using the same value I calculated so if the ads feels off maybe it is necessary to tweak the other values.

Yes on both accounts. Config file sensitivity registers 5 decimals (I just updated it from 4 in the calculator), and FOV registers 3 decimals.

Awesome, good to know. Thanks Wizard!

Just added native support for FOV based on 16:9 in the calculator (like BO4 uses), so calculations for BO4 ADS and scope have changed a tiny bit as they are more accurate now.
